Please see below a statement from Hockey Manawatu.
Hockey Manawatu’s General Manager, Jake Inwood, has resigned from the organisation and will step down from the role on 24 April.
Inwood, who was appointed to the role in September 2022, notified the Hockey Manawatu Board of his decision earlier this week and advised staff later that same day.
Jake has worked tirelessly to help move the sport in our region forward after a disruptive 2022. This has culminated with Manawatu being awarded the hosting rights of the National Hockey Championships in September 2024. A great opportunity to celebrate hockey and showcase our world-class facilities.
“It has been a pleasure to lead Hockey Manawatu,” said Inwood.
“The Manawatu is an incredibly strong hockey region and it has been great to be a part of the community during my time at the organisation. I want to thank and acknowledge the Hockey Manawatu Board and staff, both past and present, as well as the volunteers and players who are all integral parts of the success."
Hockey Manawatu Board Chair Chris Wilson said that under Inwood, Hockey Manawatu had taken some positive steps forward and was sad to see him go.
“Jake has not only brought stability to Hockey Manawatu in his tenure, he has helped move the organisation forward out of a turbulent few years post-COVID,” said Wilson.
“Whilst we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him and his partner Rebecca’s next chapter as they return to Nelson and we wish them all the best.”
The Hockey Manawatu Board will now begin to work on a plan for the organisation's leadership following Inwood’s departure. Clubs will be updated on the Board’s plan once formulated.
Kind Regards,
Jake Inwood
